On Sunday, a 26 year old fashion designer was stabbed in the neck by her former driver in Malviya Nagar, South Delhi. The woman is battling for her in the hospital.

Rekha lal, the victim’s mother had fired the driver, Anil about a year ago and the police have suspected he came back for revenge.

The driver went to the victim, Kaveri Lal’s, house and said he was the new driver for a neighbor and Kaveri’s car was blocking the car he needed to remove. Kaveri went down with the accused and while reversing the car, Anil removed a knife and attacked the woman.

Two teenagers returning from tuition classes raised an alarm and the accused fled. The attack happened at around 2 P.M., at Shivalik Apartments.

Rekha Lal informed the police, “I had picked up the car keys but my daughter insisted that she would go and accompanied Anil downstairs. Soon after, I received a call that my daughter has been stabbed.”

Kaveri Lal resisted resulting in a number of injuries on her hands. Anil also damaged Kaveri’s wind and food pipe.

Kaveri’s friend Harsh Singh said, “Fortunately two teenagers from the apartment were returning from tuitions at the time and has raised an alarm. He threatened them and then dropped the knife at the spot before fleeing. He had probably tried to slit her throat but failed.”

The teenagers called out to another neighbor, Prashanth and helped Kaveri lie down in the car. “She gave them her phone and asked them to call her mother before passing out. The teenagers and neighbors drove her to hospital,” Harsh Singh added.

Kaveri’s mother explained their reason behind firing Anil a year ago,”We did not like his attitude and the way he behaved with me or my daughter. After a fortnight, I had paid him Rs 1200 and asked him to leave. After this, I did not see him in the locality. He was referred to us by another driver in the colony.”

Chinmoy Biswal, DCP South reported, “We have registered a case of attempt to murder and have launched a manhunt to nab Anil. We have some definite clues and footage which we are scanning.”

The police investigation found the accused, Anil was not employed anywhere in the locality and the police believe it was a vengeful act.

Kaveri has undergone surgery as her wind and food pipe was badly ruptured. She has now been kept on life support.
