Kamal Nath, a former Union Minister of Madhya Pradesh (MP,) was elected as the next Chief Minister (CM) of MP, on Thursday.
After a day long meeting between Rahul Gandhi, the Congress President and all the Congress members, Kamal Nath was elected unanimously. The meeting ended late night in Bhopal, on Thursday.

Mr. Nath is expected to meet Anandiben Patel, the Governor of MP, on Friday and will then proceed to form the Government.
After being declared as the CM of MP, Mr. Nath addressed media and said, “I assure people of Madhya Pradesh that we will fulfil our promises. A new beginning has been made.”
The Congress party secured 114 seats in the Madhya Pradesh elections and touched the majority mark of 116 after the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) extended its support to the Party.
The Congress party won the elections in three states, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. Although the race for the CM’s post is done with in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are yet come to a conclusion about who will hold the post. Rahul Gandhi is likely to announce the final name for the CM’s post in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, today.
Kamal Nath is expected to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, on Monday. However, an official announcement regarding this is yet to be made.
