On Tuesday, an endangered species Red Panda was found in the inhabited area on the Tezpur Tawang Highway. The Panda was rescued by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB.)

The lonely Red Panda was chased around by stray dogs that caught the attention of troops of SSB. The SSB led by Anjani Kumar Tiwari went along with local villagers to rescue the Panda.

The species was confirmed by the forest authorities and the Red Panda was rescued and taken to a safe location. The Red Panda was then taken to the forest and released. The Eastern Himalayas are the part that has the habitat of the Red Panda.

The Red Panda population has been decreasing extensively and have been characterized as an endangered species. The reason behind the loss of these animals is due to their habitat loss. Their nesting trees and bamboos have been deforested and the large habitat lands have been cleared. The animals have also been victims of poaching and inbreeding that has also contributed to their endangerment.

The endangerment of the Red Panda was classified by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN.) They have estimated that less than 10,000 of the Red Panda species exist in the world today.
