BJP Moves A Privilege Notice Against Rahul Gandhi

On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member Bhupendra Yadav moved a privilege notice in the Rajya Sabha against the Congress President Rahul Gandhi. Yadav stated Rahul Gandhi has imputed motives to the intent, character and conduct of the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. The way Rahul spelt Jaitley’s surname is twisted and is highly derogatory and extremely unbecoming on the part of the Congress President.

The privilege notice was moved after Rahul Gandhi in his tweet misspelt Arun Jaitley’s name. Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “Dear Mr Jaitlie, thank you for reminding India that our PM never means what he says or says what he means. #BJPLies.”

Yadav said the Congress President intentionally, maliciously and disrespectfully twisted Jaitley’s name to defame the Party.

The Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu said, “No member should take the name of a person who is not present in the House and who cannot defend himself in the House against a charge or an allegation or an issue raised against him”. He further said, “That is the rule position, which is very clear. Bhupenderji, you should also know it. The name will not go on record.”

Venkaiah Naidu said he will examine the notice.
