In a setback to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) Ms. Vijaya Reddy, a party leader and corporator from Khairatabad, joined the opposition, the Indian National Congress (INC.)
According to sources, Ms. Vijaya Reddy, the daughter of late Mr. P. Janardan Reddy, a former INC leader. Addressing the media on the 18th of June, Saturday, Ms. Vijaya Reddy said, “I am joining the Congress party to continue the legacy of PJR (Mr. P. Janardan Reddy.) It feels like returning to the home party.”
Highlighting the reason behind the decision to join the INC, Ms. Vijaya Reddy said despite fulfilling and performing all the tasks given by the TRS, there was no recognition in the K. Chandrashekar Rao led the ruling party. She further added, there was a boundary imposed in the TRS. However, in the Congress, “Would provide me the right platform to showcase my talent and power and that’s the reason I am joining the party,” said Ms. Vijaya Reddy.
The switch of the party came when the Telugu State is gearing up for the Assembly elections, scheduled in 2023.
Meanwhile, all the major political parties, like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Indian National Congress and the ruling TRS are making efforts to strengthen their respective parties in Telangana, eyeing the upcoming State Assembly elections.
