PAN INDIA MNP GETS DELAYED

Pan India MNP: The Department of Telecom (DoT) has further extended the deadline by two months for implementing Mobile Number Portability (MNP) across India.

The deadline got delayed from May 3 till now and another two months again. An official statement was released which said quoting “The government has decided to extend the date of implementation of the full MNP in the networks by two months,”

COAI sought further extension as they cited that the telecom operators have to undergo some technical changes in their network for thorough implementation of pan India MNP.

“Internal testing by these operators is in advanced stage. The detailed final testing is schedule to commence shortly and is likely to be completed in two months for most of the operators,” the statement added.

The full MNP lets users to hold their portable number in any part of the nation notwithstanding when they change their network or state. At present, MNP permits users to shift to other networks within the home network while holding the same number.
