The prices of milk under the brand of Amul has been hiked by Rs. 2, in effect from the 17th of August, Tuesday.
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), marketer of milk and milk products under the brand name Amul announced the price hike in the Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR.)
On the 16th of August, Tuesday, the company said, it would increase milk prices by Rs. 2 per litre. The price hike will be applicable in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra of Gujarat, Delhi, NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and all other markets where Amul markets its fresh milk.
As per Amul’s statement, “The cattle feeding cost alone has increased by approximately 20 per cent compared to last year. Considering the rise in input costs, our member unions have also increased farmers’ prices in the range of eight to nine per cent over the previous year.”
With the new rates, milk prices in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra markets will cost Rs.31 for 500 ml of Amul Gold, Rs. 25 for 500 ml of Amul Taaza and Rs. 28 for 500 ml of Amul Shakti.
Following Amul’s move, Mother Dairy too decided to hike milk prices by Rs. 2 per litre in Delhi-NCR with effect from Wednesday.
With the price hikes, now a full cream 1 litre packet of Mother Dairy milk will cost Rs. 61 as compared to the Rs. 59 earlier. Prices of toned milk will increase to Rs. 51 while double toned milk will rise to Rs. 45 per litre. Cow milk prices have been hiked to Rs. 53 per litre.
