Mumbai is thanking the army after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the Army will help in building a new foot over bridge at Elphinstone Road Station. The news brings a sigh of relief to most commuters after the fatal stampede on the foot overbridge last month.
CM Fadnavis along with Defense Minister Sitharaman and Railway Minister Goyal announced the Army would help in building foot over bridges at two other stations as well.
Fadnavis was quoted saying, “We are taking the Army’s help in building a new FOB at the Elphinstone Road station and at two other suburban train stations in Mumbai.”
He further added, “I have been informed that the work on these bridges will be completed by January 31.”
Police personnel has been posted at Elphinstone to manage the crowd on the busy platforms after the stampede.
