The last rites of Arun Jaitley, the former Finance Minister of India, will be performed on the 25th of August in Delhi.
Mr. Jaitley passed away on the 24th of August, after undergoing treatment for several days at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. This news was confirmed by the doctors at AIIMS yesterday and they completed the formalities in the early hours of the 25th of August.
After the mortal remains are handed over to his family, they will be taken to Arun Jaitley’s residence at Kailash Colony. Later, around 12:00 P.M., the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders will take his body to the BJP headquarters for the leaders and people to pay their last respects.
Arun Jaitley was one of the strongest members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.) In his political career Jaitley held various positions including Finance Ministry, Defence Ministry, Corporate Affairs and others.
Apart from being under the BJP Government, Arun Jaitley was also a party of the Vajpayee Government under Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India.
Jaitley also served jail term for long 19 months for raising his voice against the internal emergency announced by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was suspended and was kept in Ambala Jail and Tihar Jail.
Jaitley also served as the Chief Strategy Planner of the BJP.
The last rites will be performed at Nigambodh Ghat, Delhi.
