On Saturday, President of India Ram Nath Kovind appointed new governors for various states in the country. Banwarilal Purohit was the first change and appointed as Governor of Tamil Nadu from Governor of Meghalaya.
The new Governor of Arunachal Pradesh has been announced as Brig (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) While Satya Pal Malik will be playing the same role in Bihar.
Jagdish Mukhi will serve as the Governor of Assam. Ganga Prasad was appointed to take Purohit’s place as the Governor of Meghalaya.
Satya Pal Malik is a 71 year old veteran politician from Uttar Pradesh and has been affiliated with BJP. The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh is a war veteran who volunteered in the Kargil war after retirement. Ganga Prasad has been an MLC for a long time in Bihar and will now serve as Governor.
The President also announced the replacement of the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Jagdish Mukhi to Admiral (Retd) Devendra Kumar Joshi.
It was also reported that the new appointments will be put into action immediately.
Finally, Tamil Nadu can take a sigh of relief as a full time Governor has been appointed after multiple issues surfaced against former governor Vidhyasagar Rao.
