Chinese Troops Step Back 2 Km From Galwan Valley Along LAC, Stepping Back Expected At Other Flashpoint

On the 6th of July, Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) pulled back 1.5 to 2 km from Galwan Valley, Leh Ladakh. 

The Chinese troops at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) moved back from the violence site, the Galwan valley.

On the 15th of June, a violent clash occurred between both the militaries of India and China, claiming the lives of 20 Indian soldiers.

The news was confirmed by a top government official, who wished to be anonymous.

The government official, who is familiar with the development and wanted to remain anonymous said, “Disengagement with the PLA has started as per agreed terms in the Corps Commander’s meeting. The PLA was seen removing tents and structures at Patrolling Point 14.”

The step of the Chinese troops happened after the commander level talks, held on the 30th of June.

During the meeting top Indian and Chinese military commanders decided “step wise de escalation” of the ongoing border conflict between India and China.

During the meeting on the 30th of June, the Indian Military demanded for the pullback of Chinese troops from several friction points along the LAC.

They also sought restoration of the status quo ante in areas Including Pangong Tso, Galwan Valley and the strategic Depsang plains.

The Indian Army is verifying whether China has started moving back troops from the flashpoints and would take a step by step process.

The Indian military would verify the steps taken by China and would take the next step after verification.
