Civil Aviation Minister Announces Investigation for Disinvestment Of Air India

The Government decided it will not allow Air India to become defunct like Kingfishers Airlines. On Thursday, the Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju explained the Government wanted Air India to serve the country.

The Government also expressed it did not want Air India employees to lose their jobs. During the Question Hour Raju said, “Nobody wants anyone to become unemployed. We don’t want Air India to go the Kingfisher (Airlines) way. We want the Air India to serve the nation, to serve the people and fly high.”

The Aviation Minister further explained Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will head a Ministerial Committee to investigate the matter of disinvestment of Air India. Raju also asked any MPs come come forward with valuable suggestions.

The Union Cabinet cleared the disinvestment of Air India on the 28th of June this year. But the final modalities with the quantum of stake sale will be decided and announced by the Ministerial Committee headed by Arun Jaitley.
