The Rajya Sabha was adjourned a few hours after it assembled on the 22nd of December. The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the same reason it has been for the past 5 days. The Congress refused to let go of PM Modi’s remark about Manmohan Singh colluding with Pakistan.
For the past week, the Opposition has been creating a riot in the Parliament insisting Modi apologizes. PM Modi claimed Manmohan Singh was colluding with Pakistan to influence the Gujarat Assembly Polls.
As the House assembled and the papers were laid, the Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad insisted the House be adjourned till afternoon. He explained they needed time to find a solution for the impasse in the House since day one.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel tried to be practical and explained, “This is not such an issue that a solution cannot be found.” He further added the House needed to function as it has failed to address bigger problems due to this miniscule impasse.
Chairman and Vice President M.Venkaiah Naidu attempted to continue the Zero Hour proceedings but the Congress created a ruckus. This led to Naidu adjourning the House for the day.
The Rajya Sabha will assemble next on the 27th of December after the long weekend for Christmas.
