Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Lay Foundation Of Thal Sena Bhavan

Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, on the 21st of February, led the foundation of  Thal Sena Bhavan, Delhi.

The Thal Sena Bhavan is a new concept of the Central Government for the functioning of the various headquarters and departments of the Indian Army under one roof.

As of now, the Indian Army’s various departments are working from eight different locations in Delhi.

While laying the stone of the new Thal Sena Bhavan, Mr. Singh said,  “Brave soldiers like you have ensured India is recognised as a power. The credit goes to the brave troops for this.”  He further added, “There were eight locations from where offices are being run. Now it can function from one place.”

The Thal Sena Bhavan with headquarters, complex and residential spaces would be completed by 5 years from now, 2025.

The Indian Army, which is responsible for the construction said, “A total of 6,014 offices will be constructed which will house offices for 1,684 officers, both military and civilian,”

The project would provide daily employment to skilled and unskilled workers for 5 years and two lakh hours specifically.

The other major reason behind the establishment of the Thal Bhavan is to reduce expenses of fuel and travel of the Army vehicles, which are located in 8 different locations in Delhi.

Army Chief General M.M. Naravane said, “”The proposed Thal Sena Bhawan will bring all Army HQ offices under one roof thereby improving the working efficiency, while reducing the carbon footprint and logistics requirements. It will also allow more family time for all soldiers tenating peace postings in Delhi.”

The Central Government in Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-2020 approved the Thal Sena Bhavan, proposed to be constructed opposite Manekshaw Centre spread in 39 acres.
