Delhi HC Reviewed Petition Over Delhi Violence At Midnight

Amid the ongoing violence in Delhi, the Delhi High Court (HC,) on the night of the 25th of February, had an emergency hearing.

A bench of two judges of Delhi HC, comprising Justice S. Murlidhar and Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani reviewed the current situation in Delhi.  The judges asked the Delhi Police to take care of the medical facilities for the injured and ensure safe passage for ambulance and medical treatment in violence hit areas.

The emergency hearing was scheduled at the residence of Justice S. Murlidhar at 12:30 A.M.

In addition, the judges also asked the police to inform the officials of Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) and Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospitals in Delhi.  Majority of injured people were admitted to these hospitals and are undergoing treatment.

More than 180  people were reported injured and more than 20 people were confirmed dead.  Meanwhile, the Supreme Court rejected the plea filed  by protestors in relation to the Delhi violence, saying the matter is already being reviewed by the Delhi HC.

The Delhi HC is expected to review the matter again at 2:15 P.M., on the 26th of February.
