Everything To Know About Today’s Parliament Monsoon Session

The Parliament Monsoon session was adjourned till 2 P.M., after Alwar MP Karan Singh Yadav raised the lynching issue. A few days ago a man mistaken as a cow smuggler in Alwar, Rajasthan was brutally beaten by a mob. The man eventually died after the police took three hours to get to a hospital.

The day began like every other Parliament session with TDP MLAs protesting for the Special Category Status. The TDP failed to secure majority votes on Friday’s No Confidence debate against the Modi led Government. However the MLAs are relentless and have vowed to fight till they achieve their goal.

The Parliament is expected to discuss the Anti Trafficking Bill in the second half of the session. Minister for Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi introduced the bill – Trafficking of Persons (Prevention, Protection and Rehabilitation.) The bill was introduced in the Lower House on the 18th of July.

The Congress Party plans to move a counter privilege motion against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The motion is based off the recent Rafale issue.

The Rafale deal was an agreement signed between India and France. The agreement stated France would sell 36 Rafale fighter jets for Rs. 58,000 crores. However the Congress alleged that there was a huge scam brewing behind this deal.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi slammed the Modi Government but saying they were compromising national security. Gandhi also stated Nirmala Sitharaman was lying to the people about the deal.

The Bills that will be introduced in the Lok Sabha:

  1. The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2018.
  2. The Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment) Bill 2018.
  3. The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Second Amendment) Bill 2018.
  4. The National Sports University Bill 2018.
  5. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill 2018.
