Four militants were shot dead, today morning, in an ongoing encounter in Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir.
The gunfight broke out between the militants and security officials after the latter received information from intelligence agencies about the terrorists hiding in Hanjan area of the Pulwama district.
Security officials were conducting a search operation after cordoning off the area. According to an official, the forces were conducting the search operation when the militants fired at them, which started the gunbattle.
According to an Army official, ammunition and other weapons were found at the encounter spot.
On Friday, Ishfaq Yousuf Wani, a terrorist, was killed in a similar encounter in Awantipora, Jammu and Kashmir.
The gunbattle between the security forces and the militants in Pulwama is still going on.
