Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde became the 47th Chief Justice of India on the 18th of November.

Around 9:30 A.M., on the 18th of November, Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde was sworn in as the Chief Justice of India.  Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, administered the oath of office to Mr. Bobde.

The swearing in ceremony of Mr. Bobde came after Ranjan Gogoi, the former CJI, retired on the 17th of November.

Sharad Arvind Bobde started his law career in 1978 after he enrolled in the Bar Council of Maharashtra.  Later, in 1998, he became a Senior Advocate and in 2000, he became an Additional Judge in the Bombay High Court.

In 2012, he also served as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh Court and later, in October 2012, he was transferred to the Supreme Court as a Judge.

Sharad Arvind Bobde would serve a tenure of 18 months as the Chief Justice of India.  He is due to retire on the 23rd of April 2021.
