Yesterday, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao met West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee at the Kolkata’s Secretariat. The meeting focused on discussing the Third Front, announced by KCR last week.
Addressing the media after the meeting KCR said, “We have made a good beginning, and we will have more such meetings with like minded political forces to work on the people’s agenda.”
The two ministers addressed the meeting together after their two hour long meeting. They explained they had come to an agreement and will work towards growth driven politics.
KCR explained the new political front would work in the favor and welfare of the people. He said, “We have seen what has been happening in this country for the last 71 years. Do you want the same to continue? India needs some miracle. It needs to reinvent, reorient politics and today’s meeting is just the beginning towards that.”
The two Chief Ministers also stated this would be a federal front with a collective leadership for the 2019 elections. This means KCR will not be the sole leader of the front.
KCR was asked if he would take support from the Congress if they extended help. The Telangana CM immediately responded, “You are thinking only in terms of a routine political model. The agenda we are proposing and would be pursuing would be different from that. This front will have an agenda that will be people oriented and we wish to unify India on this issue.”
CM Banerjee stated the discussed People’s Federal Front would succeed in the favor of the country.
Banerjee was the first politician to call KCR after he announced the Third Front. Apart from her, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi also extended his support for the alternate political group. Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan has also agreed to join forces with KCR. The Telangana CM is yet to meet Mr. Kalyan and Owaisi to discuss the People’s Federal Front.
