The Shiv Sena party, on the 18th of November, took a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and announced its exit from the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA.)

The Shiv Sena, in its editorial mouthpiece, Saamana, said it supported Hindutva “at a time when nobody touched it… when many of you were not even born.”  It further read, “If you thought we had gone against the NDA, why didn’t you have the courage to discuss it in an NDA meeting? Did the BJP seek NDA’s permission before coming together with Mehbooba Mufti or with Nitish Kumar?”

The Shiv Sena also criticised the BJP for throwing it out of the NDA on the death anniversary of Balasaheb Thackeray.  Uddhav Thackeray, the President of the Shiv Sena, said, “When everyone had gone against (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) Modi, Balasaheb was the one who protected him. And on his death anniversary, you throw the Sena out of NDA?”

On the 17th of November, the Modi led BJP announced it broke ties with the Shiv Sena and removed the Party from the NDA.

As of now, the Shiv Sena is in talks with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) to form the Maharashtra Government.

However, the final decision regarding the NCP-INC-Shiv Sena alliance is expected to be taken after a meeting.

Stay tuned for further updates.
