Maoists abduct 400 villagers on the day of Modi’s visit to Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Nearly 400 villagers were allegedly abducted in the wee hours of Saturday from Marenga in the neighbouring Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Dantewada district.

According to police, several Maoists forcefully took away the all male villagers along with them. The Maoists had opposed the construction of a bridge near the village but the villagers supported it. The police are suspecting that the villagers are taken deep into the forest.

However, no police operation has been launched yet to rescue them as the police force have been deployed for the security of Prime Minister, according to reports.
