MP Government To Empower Transgender People With Legal Rights And New Policy

The Madhya Pradesh Government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) empowered the transgender community.

In a big move, the Kamal Nath led Madhya Pradesh Government announced to introduce a policy, which would give major rights to individuals who identify themselves as transgender.

The new reform and policy would promote mass marriages for transgenders, legal aid for rights to parental property, financial assistance for sex reassignment surgeries, child adoption and law to punish those who call transgenders by offensive names.

In addition, under the policy the State Government would be likely to employ transgenders in government offices.

In the long term, the Government also plans to give them legal rights.

The proposed transgender policy would also provide stop centers, pension for persons of above age 55 years, shelter homes and old age homes.

The proposed law is likely to be in force from the end of November 2020.

However, a final decision regarding the implementation of the proposed law is yet to be announced.
