The Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad, who recently was in the news for assaulting an Air India employee, is back in news for yet another controversy. The Minister, on Tuesday, got violent in Latur after he was not able to get money from an ATM near the bus stand. He was in the area to campaign for Shiv Sena for the municipal corporation elections which were held on April 19.

Gaikwad was inquiring with the State Bank of India Manager when he started getting violent, the police intervened and tried to reason with him. But the minister became rude to the officials and started a protest on the road. Gaikwad along with his supporters started shouting slogans. They were held for assembly without permission, misbehavior and disorder in a public place.

The MP refused to accept any calls or messages for clarification of the incident. His personal assistant D.V. Joshi said the minister had left for Omerga, his hometown via Hyderabad. Gajanan Bhatlavande, Inspector of Gandhi Chowk in Latur, speaking to a popular news daily said Gaikwad was shouting at the official for letting the ATM stay empty. He said, “When we tried to pacify him, he shouted at the policemen using objectionable language. His supporters kept raising slogans and obstructing traffic.”

The police officer also said that they were investigating the case after a FIR was registered and will take appropriate action. This, he said will only be possible after the Municipal Elections finish. Joshi, the minister’s assistant said that Gaikwad sent an assistant to many ATMs before inquiring with the manager. He also said it was only after the police started becoming rude, the Shiv Sena Minister started a protest.
