Pariksha Par Charcha: Highlights From Modi’s Interactive Session

Here are the highlights from Pariksha Par Charcha an interactive session with Prime Minister Modi and the students of the country. The event held today at Talkatora stadium in Delhi was viewed by lakhs of students around India.

PM Modi eased the interactive session by saying, “You are not talking to the Prime Minister of India, you are talking to a friend.” PM Modi is on a mission to ease the stress students suffer during exams.

The students were given and opportunity to ask questions about how to perform better in examinations. Many students expressed their main stress came from the parents pressure to succeed. To this Modi said, “It is the dream of parents to see the kids grow and do better. You should know that whatever they are saying is for your benefit. Sometimes parents force their wishes on their kids. They want their kids to become what they could not do in their life. You should have a dialogue with your parents. Always remember what every parent sacrifices for the well being of the child.”

The Prime Minister also asked the parents to stop paying attention to the marks and support their children. He said, “Efforts should be made to reduce the stress at home. Do not compare your students with others and force your wishes on them.”

Modi also explained how each person is different in their own way and concentration can not be the same. “Concentration isn’t something that has to be specifically learnt. Every person concentrates on something or the other during the day, it may be while reading, hearing a song, talking to a friend.”

Students from all over the country sent in questions to the Prime Minister’s Office. They received thousands of queries about parental pressure, exam stress and how to deal with competition.
