Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, addressed the nation at 9:00 A.M., on the 19th of November.

The address to nation started at 9:00 A.M., with the speech of Mr. Narendra Modi.  He highlighted the achievements and contribution of the Central Government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

The major reason behind today’s address the nation is to take back the three farm laws.  During his speech, Mr. Narendra Modi said, on the ocassion of Guru Parkash parab, he asked all the farmers to go back to their home and stop protesting at the borders of Delhi.

PM Modi said, “We tried at all levels to take them into confidence. We were also prepared to modify the sections that they had objections about. However despite our best efforts, some farmers were not convinced about the laws.”

On the 19th of November, Punjab is celebrating the ocassion of Guru Parkash Parab.  On this ocassion, Mr. Modi announced the withdrawal of the three farm laws, which have forced thousands of farmers to leave their home and protest at three borders of New Delhi.

Thousands of farmers from Haryana, Punjab and other regions are staging protests against the three laws at three borders, the Singhu Border, the Tikri Border and the Ghaziabad border of New Delhi from the 25th of November 2020.  The farmers are protesting at these borders for nearly 200 days against the three farm laws.

The three farm laws which were proposed and passed by the Central Government in September 2020 witnessed criticism and protest from farmers.  They were against the three farm laws: Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.  According to them, the new laws would take away Mandi System and Minimum Support Price (MSP) leaving them at the mercy of corporators.

PM Narendra Modi also said, the Central Government have worked for the development and growth of agriculture sector in India.

The address to the nation was concluded with the speech of Mr. Modi and said, the three farm laws would be repealed in the upcoming Winter Parliament session.
