On the 26th of June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, launched Atma Nirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rojgar Abhiyan.

The launch took place through video conferencing with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath. 

The launch would focus on the livelihood of 25,000 plus migrant workers in 31 districts of the State each.  The newly launched yojana would provide 1.25 crore jobs for migrant workers in the entire Uttar Pradesh. 

During the conference launch, Mr. Modi said, “I salute the people of Uttar Pradesh.  All of you have set an example for the world.” 

The Indian PM praised Uttar Pradesh’s doctors, medical staff, accredited social health activists (ASHA) workers, Anganwadi workers, bank officials, police, sweepers and other front fighters during the pandemic crisis. 

Setting an example of the Uttar Pradesh Government to tackle the COVID-19 situation, PM Modi asked other states to take inspiration.

Mr. Modi said, other leaders should take inspiration from Yogi Adityanath and lead their states to curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus.

Speaking about the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan under Atma Nirbhar initiative, workers would get job opportunities to increase income and save livelihood, distubed by the Novel Coronavirus. 

Approximately 60  lakh people would get employment in small industries like MSMEs in schemes related to village development. 

In addition to this, a loan of Rs. 10,000 crores has been allocated to entrepreneurs under the Mudra Yojana for self employment in Uttar Pradesh. 

Later, after the launch, Mr. Modi interacted with a few migrant workers from Jalaun, Bahraich, Gonda districts to discuss the assistance and other facilities provided by the U.P., Government. 

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath said, “The way the Prime Minister has shown the direction to the country and gave the message of ‘Jaan bhi aur Jahaan bhi” is highly appreciable.  Following a similar direction, Uttar Pradesh is working for the welfare of its labourers by providing them employment. The step has been taken under Prime Minister Modi’s dream of Self reliant India.”

As part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative, 5,000 workers would get tool kits and other necessary needs related to their work. 

The category of the migrant workers who would be benefited with the launch are tailors, hairdressers, carpet weavers, soap makers, tanners and textile workers. 

Recently, on the 20th of June, PM Modi launched Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana worth Rs. 50,000 crores through video conference.

The new scheme would benefit migrant workers in 116 districts of 6 states including Uttar Pradesh. 

The Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana is a campaign of 125 days across 116 districts in 6 states, which are: Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha.
