PM Modi and Manmohan Singh Reconcile Their Differences

The first week of the Parliament Winter Session was washed out with the Congress demanding an apology from PM Modi. Narendra Modi had commented on Manmohan Singh colluding with Pakistan during the Gujarat Assembly Polls.

Finally, the Congress and the BJP have ended this feud and reached a truce. Union Minister Arun Jaitley justified PM Modi’s comment at the Rajya Sabha today. He explained the Prime Minister “did not question, nor meant to question” Manmohan Singh’s commitments.

Jaitley was quoted saying, “PM in his speeches didn’t question, nor did he mean to question the commitment to this nation of either former PM Manmohan Singh or Former VP Hamid Ansari, any such perception is erroneous, we hold these leaders in high esteem, as well as their commitment to India.”

The Congress welcomed Jaitley’s statement and in response said it has dissociated itself from Congress Leader Mani Shankar Aiyar’s ‘neech’ (low life) comment against Modi.

The Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “Thank leader of the house for clarification on what has been issue of contention. I, on behalf of my party, say that we disassociate from any comments made by any member during elections that may have hurt PM’s dignity, also we don’t want any such thing to be said in future.”

The past week of the Winter Session has been an utter waste. The Congress refused to discuss more important issues in the Parliament until PM Modi apologizes.
