Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India, on the 8th of September, left for a three nation tour.
Mr. Kovind is scheduled to visit Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia. During his visit, Mr. Kovind will conduct meetings with the top leaders of the countries regarding India’s national concern about terror incidents.
Raveesh Kumar, the Spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry, said, “To continue India’s engagement and boost the bilateral relations with Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia, President Kovind emplanes for State visits with a high level delegation.”
According to sources, Mr. Kovind will reach Iceland on the 9th of September and will be there till the 11th of September. Later, he will go to Switzerland and will finally visit Slovenia on the 15th of September.
According to sources, initially, India urged Pakistan to let Mr. Kovind use its airspace for the three nation tour. However, the Pakistan Government denied the request and issued a notice regarding the same.
Mr. Kumar informed about the refusal of the Pakistan Government and said, “We regret the decision of Pakistan government to deny overflight clearance for a VVIP special flight which is otherwise granted routinely by any normal country. We call on Pakistan to recognise (the) futility of such unilateral actions.”
Mr. Kovind is expected to return to India on the 17th of September.
