Punjab minister calls death of Moga molestation victim ‘God’s Will’

New Delhi: Punjab Education Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra on Saturday stirred a controversy by calling the death of Moga molestation victim as ‘God’s Will’. A teenage girl was molested and thrown out off a moving bus.

He also said, “ Nobody can stop accidents. Whatever happens does so by God’s will. We can always meet with an accident. We will do more for the people. What has happened is unfortunate. You cannot go against nature’s will.”

The family members of the victim rejected the government compensation and demanded a strict action against the vehicle owners. The family also refused to perform the last rites of the girl. The body of the girl has been kept in a mortuary at Singhawala village in Moga.

The victim’s father said, “I want justice. I want justice for my daughter. FIR should be registered against those whom the bus belonged to.”

The 13-year-old girl and her mother were molested by a group of men, including the conductor, in a moving bus and were thrown off the vehicle.
