Sanjay Raut, a leader of the Shiv Sena, is scheduled to meet Bhagat Singh Koshyari, the Governor of Maharashtra, on the 4th of November.

The meeting is expected to be held at 5:00 P.M., in Maharashtra.  The news about the meeting was confirmed by the Governor’s Office.

The Governor’s Office, on the 3rd of November, released a statement which read, “Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut, along with other senior party leaders, is scheduled to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at 5:00 P.M.”

According to sources, during the meeting, Mr. Raut would request the Maharashtra Governor to invite the single largest party to form the government in Maharashtra.

The announcement about the meeting raised more questions about the ongoing tussle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena over the position of Chief Minister.  Both the BJP and the Shiv Sena are eyeing the State Cabinet’s key positions and the Chief Minister’s post.

While the BJP wants Devendra Fadnavis to be the Chief Minister, the Shiv Sena wants Aaditya Thackeray to be appointed the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP, ) shared a message from Sanjay Raut and said, “This is the first time after elections that he has contacted me. I do not know why he messaged me. His message reads ‘Jai Maharashtra Saheb, I am Sanjay Raut.’ I will call him in a while to know about it.”

While the Shiv Sena leader is going to meet the Governor, the BJP and the Shiv Sena are scheduled to conduct a meeting in Delhi about the government formation in Maharashtra.

If the alliance of the BJP and the Shiv Sena does not form the State Government by the 7th of November, President’s rule would be imposed in the State.  The term of the Maharashtra Assembly is due to end on the 8th of November.

Stay tuned for further updates.
