In Tamil Nadu, Mr. M.V. Tanghavel, a 85 year old partymen of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam ended his life, after he set himself ablaze.
According to sources, the DMK leader ended his life to raise his voice against the imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu. Before committing suicide, Mr. Tanghavel, a resident of Thalayiyur village, Tamil Nadu, wrote a letter to Mr. M.K. Stalin, the President of the DMK and Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, regarding the same. In his letter, Mr. Tanghavel said, “I had opposed Hindi from my childhood. I have taken this decision with the intention to not allow Hindi in Tamil Nadu.”
Moreover, the wife of Mr. Tanghavel said, he left his house around 10:30 A.M., saying he is going to meet some party leaders. Later, outside the DMK office, Mr. Tanghavel poured petrol on himself and lit a matchstick, sacrificing his life, to oppose Hindi in Tamil Nadu.
Mr. M.V. Tanghavel died on spot, confirmed the DMK officials and police, who rushed to the spot immediately.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Police has registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
