The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will celebrate the 75th birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India, on the 20th of August, in Telangana.
N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, the chief of the TPCC, issued a notice, instructing the leaders regarding the grand celebration.
On the 16th of August, Uttam Kumar Reddy conducted a meeting with the senior leaders of the Indian National Congress (INC) at Gandhi Bhavan, Telangana.
Gudur Narayana Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar Goud, the Working President of the INC, as well as other members of the Party attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Uttam Kumar Reddy also discussed the schedule of the events to be held on the 20th of August. He said under the leadership of V. Hanumantha Rao, the INC leaders will hold a Rajiv Sadbhavana Rally. The Rally will start at 9:00 A.M., from the Rajiv Gandhi statue at Panjagutta. Later, at 11:00 A.M., the sister organisations of the INC will conduct various events, following which, the Youth Congress will conduct a blood donation camp.
The day will conclude with an essay writing competition conducted by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) at the Nizam College.
Apart from Telangana, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) requested the INC units in every state to celebrate the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi in a grand way.
K.C. Venugopal, the General Secretary of the AICC, wrote a letter to the Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs.)
The INC will also conduct a national level celebration on the 22nd of August, at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Delhi.
