Vishal Sikka has been getting a lot of attention recently after he announced he would be resigning as CEO of Infosys. After three years of impeccable work from Vishal, he has decided to go on his own way. Here are a few facts about Vishal Sikka’s life.

1. Vishal Sikka in April 2007 was surprisingly named the first Chief Technology Officer at SAP. But on 4th May 2014, Vishal Sikka, Executive Board Member for Products and Innovation decided to quit and announced his departure due to personal reasons.

2. In June 2014, Vishal was announced as the CEO and Managing Director at Infosys Ltd.

3. At Infosys, Vishal Sikka received Rs. 30 crores as his annual income and stock worth Rs. 20 lakhs.

4. During Vishal’s tenure at Infosys, he found an innovative gift for his employees. Unlike other corporates that hand out money as the employee’s bonus, Vishal decided to give iPhone 6 to 3,000 employees.

5. Vishal Sikka’s appointment at Infosys was quite a shock to many as he is not a founder and lives in Palo Alto in the U.S.

6. Vishal Sikka is not the everyday technical geek you meet. He ensures to give his views on various topics through his blog called Timelessness. Vishal has been writing on the blog since 2008 on childhood memories, Indian festivals and even increasing human potential with technology.

7. Vishal Sikka’s favorite book is Siddartha by Herman Hesse. Vishal was quoted talking about the book, “Siddhartha is an extraordinary combination of the cultures of Germany and my native India, and a deep inspiration to an entire generation of Americans, the very 3 cultures that have shaped who I am.”

8. Vishal has also talked about his entertainment preferences such as latest Bollywood films and he also admitted he loves the Matrix trilogy.

9. Although Mr. Sikka now lives in America he was born in Madhya Pradesh. His Punjabi parents brought him up in Vadodara, Gujarat.

10. Vishal studied at Rosary High School and did his Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda. Vishal’s dad was an engineer in the Indian railways and his mum was a school teacher.
