Veteran playback singer and Padma Bhushan awardee Vani Jairam was found dead at her residence in Chennai on Saturday, the 4th of February.
Vani Jairam was found dead at her house located in Nungambakkam locality of Chennai.
According to sources, the Thousand Lights Police stated that the reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained.
A bunch of cops have now cordoned off her residence and an investigation has been launched to determine the reason behind her death.
Vani Jairam marked her debut in playback singing in 1971 and in her career spanning over five decades, she recorded more than 10,000 songs in over 19 languages.
Apart from the Padma Bhushan, she has also won National Film Awards and state government awards.
Vani Jairam’s husband had passed away in 2018.
