The Board of Control for Cricket in India met the Pakistan Cricket Board to discuss the Memorandum of Understanding. This was written between the two countries in 2014. Amidst this, the Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel asserted that there will be no bilateral series between the two countries as long as there is terrorism in Pakistan.

On Monday, Goel said, “BCCI should come out with a proposal on Pakistan only after consultations with the government. I have already made it clear that any bilateral series with Pakistan is almost impossible because there cannot be sports relations between the two countries until there is terrorism from the Pakistani side.” He added that “Sports and terrorism cannot go hand in hand.”

Goel also said that they, however, cannot change the control of government on multilateral games. This was discussed as India will be facing the arch rival Pakistan team in the Championship Trophy at Edgbaston on June 4.

Amitabh Chaudhry, the acting secretary of BCCI along with the members of Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA.) They will today meet the PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan in Dubai. PCB has sent a legal notice to Indian cricket board earlier this month as they failed to honor the MoU that was signed by two countries’ cricket boards. They also demanded a compensation of USD 60 million from BCCI for the same.

The MoU states that India and Pakistan had to play six series. Four of them will be in Pakistam and were yet to receive clearance from the Government of India. But the two countries have not played a full bilateral series after the terror attacks of November 2008 in Mumbai.
