Remember how as children we were taught how to learn from failures? How to stand up the seventh time after falling down six times? How to never give up? Well it was because of people like P.V. Sindhu that those proverbs came about. People like P.V. Sindhu who taught us that hard work and determination overcome helplessness and defeat.
In a victory that would perhaps be told time and again, P.V. Sindhu won over her former Olympian opponent Carolina Martin in the Indian Open Super Series title, a maiden one for her. The Spaniard had wrenched away the gold from her at the Rio Olympics 2016, a close match at that. But Sindhu faced her fears and failure once more yesterday at Siri Fort Sports Complex, New Delhi. The Indian ace badminton star beat the World Champion in sets of three, inching out the gold with a 21-19 and 21-16 win. She was awarded with many wishes and a whopping 25,000 US Dollars.

The crowd roared with happiness as Sindhu struck that shot and brought home the victory. It was an intense match after all with Carolina trying to sneak in the points at every misstep of Sindhu’s and Sindhu in turn clocking in the points with every passing game. Whether it was the advantage of being on the home ground or that she had worked every second after that Olympic final to take her revenge, Sindhu was unstoppable. Just like how her future in badminton would be we hope! You go girl!
