The Royal Challengers Banglore on Sunday faced a humiliating loss after they were all out by the end of 9th over. The RCB were chasing 131 runs made by Kolkata Knight Riders in 19.3 overs. The team made a score of 49 in 9 overs when they were all out.

This is the lowest score that any team has made after the IPL began 10 seasons ago. The RCB team in the sixth IPL, on the same day made their highest score of 265, in which Chris Gayle alone scored 150 runs. The team is famous for its power hitters, who hold the record for making the most runs with the lowest balls. This came as a shocker to the RCB fans because of their impressive lineup of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Ab De Villiers and much more.

Speaking about this loss, Kohli said, “After the kind of half that we had, we thought we could capitalize and chase it down. Reckless batting. I can’t say anything at the moment.” The furious skipper also added, “It was that bad. This is just not acceptable. Our worst batting performance, it really hurts.”

The team was one of the finalists in the 2016 IPL, and with their impressive bowling restricted Gautam Gambhir led Kolkata Knight Riders to 131 in 19.3 overs. But the KKR came back with stronger bowling form and after the loss of Virat Kohli’s wicket fell down like a pack of cards. The RCB with this loss, made it to the bottom of the points table, by losing 5 out of seven matches.

The record of the lowest score was held by Rajasthan Royals till date, where they lost all wickets by 58 runs against RCB in Cape Town in the 2009 IPL. The RCB now broke this record without even making it half way through the required chasing score.

Kohli’s duck out by Nathan Coulter-Nile in the third ball turned the game for KKR. Expressing his distress over duck out, the Captain said, “The sight screen is very small here, one guy got up as the bowler was loading up, that distracted me. Still, it wasn’t a big deal. That was just one down. Nine guys could do the job.”

Kohli added, “There’s nothing to review anything about the second half, it was that bad. We need to forget it and move forward. We’re a much better team. We got 200 plus in the last game. I’m sure everyone realizes what they’ve done wrong. You have to come out, show intent and back yourselves. I’m sure we won’t bat like that again in the tournament. We’ve got back to back games, need to try and win those to get some momentum.”
