After resigning as the Test series Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Virat Kohli also rejected the offer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to lead the 100th Test series.

On the 17th of January, Monday, the BCCI offered a farewell Test as captain before he stepped down from the position.

According to a senior BCCI official, Virat Kohli was offered a farewell match as captain in Bengaluru. Since the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is like a second home to Virat, hence this would have been a good farewell to the Indian Skipper. However, the 33-year-old Virat Kohli rejected the offer. Mr. Virat Kohli said, “One match makes no difference. That’s not how I am.”

It is to be noted, on the 15th of January, Saturday, Virat Kohli took to social media and announced his decision to quit as the Indian Cricket Team Test series captain.

In his social media announcement, Virat Kohli said, “I want to thank the BCCI for giving me the opportunity to lead my country for such a long period of time and more importantly, to all the teammates who bought into the vision I had for the team from day one and never gave up in any situation. You guys have made this journey so memorable and beautiful. He further said, “To Ravi Bhai and the support group who were the engine behind this vehicle that moved us upwards in Test cricket consistently, you all have played a massive role in bringing this vision to life. Lastly, a big thank you to MS Dhoni who believed in me as a captain and found me to be an able individual who could take Indian Cricket forward.”

Meanwhile, the BCCI is likely to announce the new Test Captain soon. Notably, player K.L. Rahul or Mr. Rohit Sharma are expected to be handed the responsibility.

However, an official announcement is awaited.
