In the wake of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration, Telangana Police imposed traffic restrictions In Khairatabad, Telangana.

According to sources, vehicle movement has been restricted in the Khairatabad region considering the safety of the people. To take the blessings of Mahaganpati (Lord Ganesha,) many devotees would visit Khairatabad in the next few days.

The State of Telangana does not only celebrate the event of Ganesh Chaturthi in a grand way, but makes the largest idol of Lord Ganesha in the Khairatabad area. Despite the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic, the Khairatabad Ganesh Chaturthi Association is celebrating the event in a grand way. The arrangements of the event have been made in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols like social distancing, wearing face masks and sanitizing. It is to be noted, unlike last year (27 feet tall) this year’s Ganesh idol stands at 40 feet tall and has been named as Panchamukha Rudra Maha Ganapati.

In addition, keeping up with the tradition of Laddoo offering, a 1,100 kg laddoo has been offered to the Khairatabad Ganesh Idol. A Telangana based businessman Mr. J. Tanay Rana and his family offered the 1,100 kg laddoo as prasad. Worth Rs. 1 lakh, the laddoo would be distributed to the devotees coming for darshan of the Khairatabad Ganesh Idol. Usually, the laddoo is distributed on the 5th day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, this time the date to distribute the prasad is yet to be decided.

Meanwhile, to control the crowd and ensure safety, the State Traffic police urged devotees to take public transport like buses and metros, instead of cabs and private cars.

Despite restrictions on vehicles, the Hyderabad police arranged parking at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) parking places, for senior citizens and emergencies.

According to the Telangana Traffic police, the imposed traffic restrictions would be in place till the 19th of September.
