Bandaru Dattatreya, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, criticised K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, regarding the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project.

On the 4th of August, Mr. Dattatreya addressed a press conference and said KCR wasted public money n a project which lacks in terms of adequate technology.

India’s most expensive project, the Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project, is worth Rs. 80,500 crores, designed to provide irrigation facilities to approximately 13 districts in Telangana.

E.S.L. Narasimhan, the Governor of Telangana, on the 21st of June, inaugurated this highly awaited project.

However, Dattatreya criticised the Project, stating it is a failure and said KCR did not listen to the ministers and engineers and ignored their suggestions due to his pride.

Mr. Dattatreya said, “Earlier, the projects were filled using the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) lifts. Now with the heavy inflows is forcing the water from Annaram barrage to come back to the point of Kaleshwaram.”

The comments came after the BJP leader demanded a review meeting be conducted regarding the progress of the Kaleshwaram Project.

According to Bandaru Dattatreya, the TRS Government wasted a total of Rs. 80,000 crores as the Kaleshwaram Project is said to have technological issues.

The BJP asked the TRS Government to organise a review meeting with technical experts and engineers and reconsider the design of the Kaleshwaram Project.

Stay tuned for further updates.
