A day after Telangana reported recovery of 11 Novel Coronavirus cases, new cases of COVID-19, 1,000 of citizens of Telangana, reported to be a part of Tablighi Jamaat congregation.

The event which witnessed a gathering of 2,000 to 3,400 people is a religious event organised in Nizamuddin, Delhi between the 13th of March to 16th of March.  The event held in Nizamuddin is said to be the hotspot for the spread of the Novel Coronavirus in India. More than 200 people in Karnataka are said to be found and quarantined and search for  the people who attended the Delhi’s religious event at Markaz mosque is underway.

At a time, when India is already struggling to prevent the spread of virus, the news of the Markaz Mosque updates created chaos amongst the people. The event was organised when the Central Government as  well as the Delhi Government did not impose lockdown. The Delhi Government announced lockdown on the 17th of March, whereas, the Central Government announced a 21 day lockdown starting from the 25th of March.

However, the reason for the spread of Coronavirus is due to the defense stay of 1,000 people from different states and cities like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

According to the officials of the Telangana Government, 603 of the 1,000 participants from Telangana were from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

The worst case scenario for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is, the authority needs to trace all the participants and do a COVID-19 test. None of the participants voluntarily reported to the State Government or medical department.

Meanwhile, on the 31st of March, Telangana reported 6 deaths amongst the 1,000 participants, who were tested COVID-19 positive.

A few of the identified participants were said to be put under isolation and are under observation, whereas search for remaining people is still underway.
