COVID-19 Update – Telangana CM Says, 21 Districts To Be COVID-19 Free By Tuesday

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, on the 27th of April said Telangana’s 21 districts would be free from the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Mr. Rao said all the precautionary measures taken during the pandemic illness is giving result as by the 28th of April, 21 districts in Telangana would report zero active cases of COVID-19.

During a high level review meeting, Mr. Rao said, “Going by the decline in the number of cases, the State will be coronavirus free within a few days.  This is a positive development and people need not worry as the Health department is fully geared up to tackle any further new cases.”

The meeting was attended by Health Minister Etela Rajender, Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Parliamentary Party Leader K. Keshav Rao, Chief Advisor of Telangana Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary of Telangana Somesh Kumar,.  Others who participated were Director General of Police (DGP) Mahender Reddy, Principal Secretaries Narsing Rao, Shanta Kumari, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and former Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary.

With the decreasing number of cases and containment zones, Mr. Rao said soon the situation would be in control with a least or zero number of the Coronavirus cases.

Telangana CM who reviewed the situation after a meeting with the Prime Minister of India, said the lockdown and strict implementation of rules, played a major role to reduce the cases of COVID-19.

In the past 24 hours, Telangana reported only two new cases, whereas 16 patients were discharged after undergoing treatment successfully. 

According to K. Chandrashekar Rao and the State Health department, the 21 districts, which would be COVID-19 free by the 28th of April are:

Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Narayanpet, Warangal Rural, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubabad, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhongir, Mancherial, Jagitial, Janagaon, Peddapalli, Sangareddy, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Medak, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar and Nalgonda.

Mr. Rao said, “Once we overcome the current situation, we will be able to handle it effectively even if there is a positive case occasionally.” 

Telangana has a total of 1,003 positive cases for the Coronavirus, out of which 646 are active cases, 332 are recovered/ discharged cases and 25 deceased till the 28th of April.
