V.C. Sajjanar, the Commissioner of Cyberabad Police, on the 11th of December, left for Delhi.

Mr. Sajjanar is going to attend the Supreme Court hearing on a petition filed related to the Hyderabad encounter, during which the Hyderabad Police killed the four accused in the Disha rape and murder case.

On the 6th of December, V.C. Sajjanar, along with his Cyberabad Police team, killed all the four accused in an encounter.  While the majority of Indians applauded the team for killing the accused, a few filed a petition against the Police personnel, including V.C. Sajjanar, for the extrajudicial killings.

G.S. Mani, an advocate of the SC and Pradeep Kumar Yadav filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court, seeking action against the police officers for killing the accused.

Mr. Sajjanar is scheduled to submit all the details about the encounter to the SC, following which the Court would decide whether shooting the 4 accused was necessary.

After the hearing of the SC, the Telangana High Court (HC) is also going to review a petition filed against Mr. Sajjanar and the Cyberabad Police team.  The Telangana HC is scheduled to review the petition on the 13th of December, a day after the SC’s hearing.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC,) which took a suo moto cognizance against the Cyberabad Police team, is also scheduled to leave for Delhi and submit a detailed report about their investigation of the Disha rape and murder case.

The SC hearing is scheduled to start soon on the 11th of December.
