Eatala Rajender, the former Health Minister of Telangana and a senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) member, quit the Party.
On the 4th of June, Friday, Mr. Eatala Rajender announced his resignation as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and of leaving the TRS. The announcement was made during a press conference today.
During the press meet, Mr. Rajender said the TRS won in several elections due to his effort. He said, “Even Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha, who contested in Nizamabad Lok Sabha, with the TRS B form, was defeated.” He also blamed the TRS Government for suppressing the RTC strikes last year. He said, “KCR banked on money power and conspiracies in winning the recent MLC elections Graduates’ seats (sic.)”
Speaking about his resignation, Eatala Rajender said, “We had won every election held in Huzurabad. I had never fought for positions. The only aim was to develop the State in all aspects which some leaders could not digest. I have resigned many times for self respect of the people of Telangana and this is one of them.” Mr. Rajender also said, similar to him, T. Harish Rao, the Finance Minister of Telangana, also faced humiliation by KCR. He said, “Like me finance Minister Harish Rao too was humiliated many times, there is no SC,ST and BC IAS officer in the Chief Minister’s office.”
The resignation of Eatala Rajender has been given to the State Assembly Speaker and is yet to be accepted.
Since the 1st of May, when K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana sacked Eatala Rajender from the State Cabinet, there has been a war between the ruling TRS and Eatala Rajender. KCR removed Mr. Rajender as the State Health Minister over land grabbing allegations. In addition, KCR ordered an investigation against Eatala Rajender. However, the former Health Minister of Telangana denied the land grabbing allegations and claimed it to be a conspiracy against him.
Now that Eatala Rajender has submitted his resignation from the MLA post of Huzurabad and quit the TRS, he is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.) In the past few weeks, Mr. Rajender was in talks with the BJP leaders hinting to join the Party. He even visited Delhi for three days and met with J.P. Nadda, the National President of the BJP.
With this, Eatala Rajender is likely to join the BJP on the 8th of June in the presence of BJP leaders and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
If media sources are to be believed, the Member of Parliament (MP) Konda Vishveswara Reddy is also likely to join BJP with Eatala Rajender. After joining the BJP, the former TRS leader is expected to announce his political action plan.
However, an official announcement regarding the date of his joining the BJP is awaited.
