The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) released an amount of Rs. 50 crores for repair works.

Due to the continuous downpours for the past few days, areas in the GHMC limit witnessed extensive damages, water logged areas and other issues.

Nearly 200 road stretches in Alwal have been severely damaged.

Mr. Mahesh, the DEE of the GHMC, Alwal, said “Currently, we are addressing water logging and desilting of drains and nalas. Most of the UCD lines are damaged. Residents of the low lying areas in panic broke open the manholes in many places to let the storm water out. There is a need to fix all those manholes immediately.”

In addition, in several colonies of the GHMC areas the flood water reached five feet level, forcing residents to confine to their homes.

The GHMC officials and the National Defense Rescue Force (NDRF) team are conducting rescue operations.

Under the 24×7 rescue operation, the teams saved 200 families and relocated 180 families to safe locations.

The Telangana Government announced several schools and GHMC offices as shelter homes for people residing in low lying areas.

Meanwhile, the repair works and rescue operations are underway.

Stay tuned for further updates.
