GHMC Elections: Smriti Irani Slams TRS-AIMIM Over Rohingya Voters Enrollment, Asks For Investigation

On the 25th of November, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

The BJP leader and one of the star campaigners for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) elections addressed the public and media.

During the public gathering, Ms. Irani slammed the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government for allowing illegal immigrants and Rohingya Muslims in the City.

Smriti Irani followed the questions asked by the BJP Yuva Morcha (BJPYM) leader in Karnataka and criticised the TRS Government of allowing immigrants and Rohingya Muslims to be enrolled in the voter’s list.

Ms. Irani said, “If the TRS Government can investigate on (the) Rohingyas, the Central Government is ready to take (an) action.”

Speaking at the BJP office in Hyderabad, the Union Minister also said that TRS by joining hands with the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is using Rohingya Muslims for generating vote banks in the Old City.

Highlighting the figure, Ms. Irani said. “Around 75,000 Rohingyas are residing in Hyderabad.”

She also said that TRS and MIM is a corrupt alliance which deprived development of Old City and now is making use of the illegal voters.

In order to support her statement Ms. Irani said, “The AIMIM party had already asked the central government to include rohingyas in the voter list trying to weaken the country from within (sic.)”

She also blamed the TRS Government for not letting the Central schemes being implemented in the State.

Besides Smriti Irani, a few union ministers and the top leaders of the BJP would campaign for the upcoming GHMC elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National BJP President J.P. Nadda are a few senior leaders who would campaign for the GHMC elections in Hyderabad, Telangana.

The three major parties being a part of the upcoming elections are the BJP, the TRS and the Indian National Congress (INC.)

After winning the recent Dubbaka by poll, the BJP is confident to win the GHMC elections.

The GHMC elections for 150 municipal wards are scheduled to be held on the 1st of December.

The results of the elections would be announced on the 4th of December.
