After the Telangana High Court (HC) refused to allow plaster of paris (PoP) Ganesh idols immersion in the Hussain Sagar, artificial ponds were arranged.
On the 14th of September, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) organised 28 artificial ponds for Ganesh immersion Hyderabad. In regard to this arrangement, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government issued an order. In these 28 artificial ponds, which are of 43×43 (length and breadth) idols of 8×10 feet could be immersed, without any difficulty.
The GHMC officials have released fresh water into the ponds that were located near Durgam Cheruvu, Malkam Cheruvu and Nallagandla Cheruvu where the Ganesh idols would be immersed today, Tuesday
Mr. Ram Babu, the Chief Entomologist of the GHMC, said that staffers have been deployed at all the ponds to help the devotees for idol immersion. Instantly after the immersion, the GHMC deployed staff would be removing the PoP idols, to keep the pond water pollution free and clean.
In addition, the GHMC officials are also ensuring that during idol immersion, people strictly follow all the protocols of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)
The Ganesh Chaturthi, which started from the 10th of September, would be continued till the 19th of September in India. The 19th of September, 9th day would be the last day for the Ganesh idol immersion and Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in India.
