The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) will soon launch an online facility which can be used by Metro passengers to lodge complaints.

According to sources, the passengers can, on a WhatsApp group, file a complaint regarding any kind of issues faced by them in the Metro.

The HMRL took the initiative to ensure the safety of the passengers, especially women commuters.  The HMRL decided to launch the WhatsApp facility after a recent incident, wherein a commuter created a scene by pretending to be intoxicated and harassing passengers.

The incident took place on the 8th of September, following which, N.V.S. Reddy, the Director of the HMRL, came up with the online complaint service.  Mr. Reddy said, “The person was not drunk but pretended to be in an inebriated state and created a nuisance to get attention.”

Speaking about the incident, Mr. Reddy said the Metro staff will restrict individuals under the influence of alcohol from entering the Metro.

With the help of the WhatsApp group, one can file an instant complaint.  Based on the complaint, the authority will take immediate action and launch an investigation.

Approximately 3 lakh people use the Hyderabad Metro to commute daily.
