On the 29th of July, the Hyderabad Police Task Force, arrested two people from Humayunagar, alleged of crowdfunding fraud through a Facebook page. 

Identified as Salman Khan (29) and Syed Ayub (31) used to collect money through a Facebook page of a non profit organization (NGO.)

According to sources, both Salman and Syed used to run a NGO named Hyderabad Youth Courage (HYC.)

Both men used to collected lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing urgent treatment to people suffering from disease and belongs to underprivileged families.

After collecting the money, they used to misappropriate the funds later.

Recently, the accused shared a video of one such patient named Yasmeen Sultana. She was suffering from a chronic ailment, and requested people to contribute for her medical treatment and shared the bank account number of one of Sultana’s relatives named Asra Begum.

Following their request on the FB page, the duo collected a huge amount in lakhs.

According to the police statement, “Yasmeen Sultana passed away while undergoing treatment. Salman, Ayub and Asra Begum decided to share the sum. Asra Begum has transferred Rs 15 lakh to Salman, another Rs 15 lakh to Rashed, a relative of Ayub, and kept the balance amount with herself as her share.”

The matter was registered with the Hyderabad police after several complaints from the public.

Sensing a fraud, several cases in different police departments were registered against the Hyderabad Youth Courage.

One such case was registered in Chandrayangutta police station, another in Nampally and Humayunnagar police stations, too.

G. Chakravarthy, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police of Task Force (South) confirmed the arrest of both Salman and Ayub.

However, Asar is still absconding.

A case regarding the same has been registered and an investigation is underway.
