K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, on the 6th of February, conducted a meeting with municipal corporation officials and the newly appointed Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officers in Telangana.

Recently, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) recently reshuffled a few IAS officers in Telangana.  The reshuffling of officers came after the TRS won the Municipal elections in the State.

On the 6th of February, KTR conducted a meeting with the municipal corporation officials and IAS officers and directed them to come up with a green plan for each municipality.  Aiming at a greener environment and better sanitation in Telangana, K.T. Rama Rao also briefed the municipal officials about the new Municipal Act and asked them to implement the same effectively and without any further delay.

KTR also asked them to ensure clean drinking water is supplied, good sanitation conditions are maintained and the amount of trees and greenery in municipal corporations is increased.

During the meeting, KTR said, “Unlike any other State in India, the TS-bPass will grant permissions to people within 21 days to construct a house. Building permissions should be granted within the given time frame and in a fair manner. Indulging in any kind of corruption will call for stringent action.”

Speaking about the funds, KTR said nearly 10 % of the amount allocated to the municipal corporations should be used for green cover in municipalities.  There are a total of 120 municipalities in Telangana.

TRS Working President KTR said, “If needed, the officials should rope in doctors and entomologists in preparing the plans.”

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, Municipal Administration Director N. Satyanarayana, GHMC Commissioner D.S. Lokesh Kumar and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) Managing Director M. Dana Kishore were present at the meeting.
